Develop your EPD-Skills: Become a Qualified ECO EPD Officer
Build your EPD knowledge through our three course levels to become an EPD Decision Maker and Project Manager.
With the upcoming Construction Products Regulation, the disclosure of construction products’ environmental performance will become mandatory. Consequently, Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) are quickly becoming one of the building blocks of sustainability strategy in the construction sector.
Therefore, gaining competence around EPDs, and how they can be integrated within an organization is an imperative to be successful in a net zero economy. Qualified ECO EPD Officers will have the training to work confidently in this new paradigm.
As the recognized leader in the field of EPD, ECO Platform offers this education, developed by international experts to provide this competence. After completing the three levels with qualifying exams, you will be able to demonstrate your competence and describe yourself as a qualified ECO EPD Officer.

The Qualified ECO EPD Officer course is mainly aimed at employees of product manufacturers who have to deal with the topic of EPD. No prior knowledge is required. Participants will learn the basics that will enable them to recognise environmental product data requirements and manage their internal implementation. In addition to the industry, employees of tendering organisations and authorities are also likely to benefit from the course.
No, the Qualified ECO EPD Officer course is open to everyone. However, ECO Platform members enjoy preferential rates.
No prior knowledge is required.
The course will focus on the European regulation and standards. However, most of the course content is equally relevant for application in other regions. Differences from the EU context to other regions are addressed in the course.
No, the certificate remains valid. However, by stating a completion date, it is to be expected that the recognition of older certificates in the market will decrease over the years. To avoid this and to stay informed about current developments, ECO Platform is planning to offer refresher courses that include relevant changes and additions.
As the content of all sessions is relevant to the exam, it is not a good idea to miss a session. But it is not a reason for exclusion from the exam. Most of the content can also be taken from the teaching materials provided with the course.
We are certain that the market will recognise a Qualified ECO EPD Officer certificate, even if the ECO Platform only has an indirect influence on market recognition. The credibility and expertise of the ECO Platform will contribute to general recognition. The aim of setting up training courses on EPD at the ECO Platform is to standardise knowledge and overcome the shortage of experts in the market, not to earn money. ECO Platform has even been asked to organise training courses by authorities and private companies on many occasions.
The Qualified ECO EPD Officer course will be your quick start into the world of environmental product data.
You will be familiar with the key obligations and market requirements relating to environmental product information, making you an important advisor on the subject within the company. In addition, a basic understanding of the methodology of life cycle assessment and the relevant technical standards will enable you to assess and manage the necessary resources and processes within the company.
No. Creating an EPD is a highly complex process that requires years of training and experience. This should be done by life cycle assessment experts using professional tools. Ultimately, it must be ensured that the EPD is verifiable.
As a Qualified ECO EPD officer, you are not the EPD creator, but the manager who organizes the creation of the EPD for a manufacturer. This is an important and responsible task, which requires a broad basic knowledge.
